Hannah Gray, MA

Hello! My name is Hannah Gray and I am excited to share with you a little about myself to help you decide if I would be a good fit as your therapist. I’m curious, what have you tried to manage uncomfortable or distressing thoughts, feelings, or memories? How successful were your attempts? What, if anything, have you found that eliminates discomfort? If you’re like so many of my clients, you have tried everything you can to get rid of, avoid, suppress, escape or distract yourself from discomfort and you haven’t yet found the long-term solution you carve.

I want to help you become successful in processing distressing inner experiences. I meet you where you are at. Whether you are seeking general support in your daily life, need assistance navigating hardships, or want interventions for specific symptoms, I am equipped to assist with your wide range of needs. My aim is to help you feel comfortable discussing any topic. This is done by creating an accepting and nonjudgmental space and developing a comfortable, collaborative relationship with my clients. I want you to feel safe exploring the different aspects of yourself and your experiences, even the difficult or scary ones. I strive to foster validation, support, and compassion in my sessions. Self-expression and authenticity are at the heart of my practice. I encourage my clients to be unapologetically themselves.

My credentials

I am a doctoral student at the University of Indianapolis. My first clinical experience included assessing for and diagnosing children with autism spectrum disorder and providing feedback to family members about their child's diagnosis. As your therapist, I want to ensure that I provide you with honest and accurate feedback, whether it is about your diagnosis and other mental health related issues, your behavior or your relationships. I don't shy away from difficult conversations. My experience delivering difficult news about chronic diagnoses has prepared me to help you work through the often difficult and life-changing experiences that bring people to therapy.

Additionally, I have worked with a variety of populations, including parents in crisis, children in the foster system and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I have experience working with individuals with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), trauma/Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. I am trained in a number of cognitive behavioral modalities including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My educational experience includes research regarding antiracist practices in social work, the affects of stigma on schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and minority beliefs about justice and authority. I am passionate about decolonizing therapy. My experience with antiracist research has informed my ability to identify the root cause of issues that are often dismissed in minority populations. This helps me find solutions that are more appropriate than traditional psychological practices which often do not incorporate minority experiences. My approach involves integration of techniques to tailor treatment to your unique needs.
