Hello and welcome!  My name is Mackenzie Moran and I am a licensed mental health counseling associate. One of my favorite poets, Rumi, quotes, “When will you begin that long journey into yourself?” This quote captures the life transitions and significant moments that often put us on a journey inward, back home to our true selves. When we are in a phase of transition, be it a move, a divorce or break-up, the start of a new career, the birth of a child, the death of a loved one or the adjustment from being in the military to living in the civilian world, choosing to look within ourselves takes courage and bravery. As your therapist, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you make your way to reconnect with yourself.  I am inspired by the resilience and spirit of the clients with whom I work. I am passionate about creating and holding reverence for the spaces where deep healing occurs.

Many of my clients are in a self-discovery phase of life. If you are feeling lost, off course or still trying to discover who you really are, or if you feel misaligned or confused about societal expectations or pressures of who the world or your family and friends expect you to be, my therapeutic approach could be a good match for you. I believe somewhere deep inside ourselves we all hold the answers to the questions about our own lives and the path to true alignment. As your therapist, my job is to hold the space for you as you move to your true self, letting go of parts of yourself that are no longer serving you and creating space for new parts to emerge.

Although I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, I am passionate about providing care to people between the ages of 18 to 35. In working with this age group, I have found my clients often experience depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or trauma. In working together, we will not only address these issues, but help you connect the past to the present to create a deeper understanding of yourself, others and the world around you.  My therapeutic approach naturally incorporates creativity and collaboration. I am a believer in tapping into not only the parts of yourself you may have been ignoring but also awakening your hidden strengths and dreams, guiding you toward a more fulfilling and empowered self. Together, we will create a treatment plan that encompasses your unique needs and superpowers. I believe you are the expert on your own life and I am here as a guide to help you along your path.

My professional background began in working with people in hospitality in and around National Parks and over the past five years evolved into mental health counseling. My love for connecting to the natural world without and within, working with people, and therapeutic experiences intersected to create my current role as a therapist. My strengths help me naturally create an environment that helps clients feel safe and welcome. In 2023, I graduated with my master’s degree in mental health counseling from Saybrook University. My clinical experience as a therapist has been in private practice settings working with individuals, couples, and families and a trauma therapy center working with complex trauma and PTSD. Outside of being a therapist, I work as a therapeutic board game designer, combining my hospitality and therapy experience to create immersive experiential board game nights aimed to help people reconnect with their authentic selves.

My work integrates mind-body interventions, family systems, relational-cultural theory, Cognitive Processing Therapy, somatic trauma practices such as Polyvagal Theory and Expressive Arts Therapy, contemplative practices, and energy medicine. I view my clients through a holistic lens treating the whole person and taking into consideration all aspects of their humanity. Together we will traverse your path towards genuine self-alignment, realization and fulfillment.

If you’re interested in working together, please feel free to email me at mackenzie@gabrielcounselingservices.com. I’m looking forward to connecting with you and supporting you on this journey.
