Murphy Hall, LCSW

Hello! I am Murphy Hall, LCSW (she/her). My hope is that you have happened upon this page because you are planning to start or continue your therapy journey. Maybe you are searching for extra support, ways to reduce stress and cope with emotions, or ways to feel more comfortable in your own skin. Sometimes the life we desire to have is not the one right in front of us. With me as your therapist, we can work together to help you navigate the changes you want to make in your own life. I have been described as calm, consistent, and compassionate by my clients. My approach is comprised of support, validation, empowerment, and honesty. I strive to create a safe, accepting environment for everyone with whom I have the opportunity to work.

My past clinical experience as a social worker in a community mental health clinic and advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness has been meaningful and important. These jobs opened the door to working with a diverse range of clients. My passion and value is diversity in my work, which is why I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ population to navigate gender and sexuality and have extensive experience in treating trauma, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, body positivity/self-esteem, and relationship stress for individuals in monogamous or polyamorous relationships. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals who identify as being a part of the kink community.

MY RESUME

My undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work are from the University of Southern Indiana. I worked at the local community mental health center for four years and provided a broad array of services to clients of many backgrounds. Prior to working at the community mental health center, I had the opportunity to work with those experiencing homelessness.

Since starting my journey as a social worker, I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, as well as other treatment modalities. Collaboration is key and it is important for you as the client to be a part of your treatment planning process. We will work together and find what type of treatment works best for you.

If you are interested in working with me, I welcome you to email me directly at murphy@gabrielcounselingservices.com to schedule an appointment. I look forward to walking with you on this journey.
